The rest of the league had time to spare on AJ Barner; the Bears did not wait, grabbing him 41 spots ahead at Round 5, Pick 26.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Van Pran.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
