The Bears found their guy under center in Williams: B. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Richard Jibunor in the 207th overall pick, a good 61 spots before the room expected him. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The Worthy pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
Caleb Williams in slot 1 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick9
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In the 9th overall pick they get a problem off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick76
Rnd3
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy at No. 76 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick122
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
Mohamed Kamara at Round 4, Pick 22 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick147
Rnd5
AJ Barner
A big swing on AJ Barner at the 147th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick207
Rnd6
Richard Jibunor
Richard Jibunor in pick 207 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster logic is harder to follow.
