FutureC+
The Bears bet the future on Williams. The board says C+. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.
Franklin at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
Kamara has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
Caleb Williams in Round 1, Pick 1 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick9
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In the 9th pick they get a bendy edge with upside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick75
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
Good price on Sedrick Van Pran in slot 75, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick76
Rnd3
Troy Franklin
Troy Franklin in pick No. 76 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick122
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
A premium they did not need to pay, Mohamed Kamara a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
