Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA
The Bears fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the Bears should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

The cost of the Daniels reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Melton.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get a weapon on the perimeter. A real need, handled.
Pick32 Rnd1 Tyler Nubin
In the 32nd overall pick they get a two-high chess piece at fair value. More want than need.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cooper Beebe. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick111 Rnd4 MarShawn Lloyd
By-the-book stuff, MarShawn Lloyd at the 111th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick127 Rnd4 Max Melton
The board had Max Melton higher than No. 127, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick146 Rnd5 Jaheim Bell
Value with a capital V on Jaheim Bell in pick 146, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick186 Rnd6 Ethan Driskell
Ethan Driskell in pick No. 186 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick232 Rnd7 Nathaniel Watson
No drama and no debate, Nathaniel Watson went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick256 Rnd7 JT Daniels
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for JT Daniels. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
