Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Williams: A-.

Start where it matters. The Bears took Caleb Williams to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.

They banked enough surplus on Jones to cover a lot of smaller sins. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The cost of the Keegan reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
A straight-up fair deal on Caleb Williams at pick 1, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick23 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
No drama and no debate, Michael Hall Jr. went about where he belonged in the 75th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick99 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
Nothing to complain about; Khyree Jackson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick122 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
Nice patience on Zak Zinter, who had no business lasting to No. 122. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick129 Rnd4 Trevor Keegan
A premium they did not need to pay, Trevor Keegan a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
Pick157 Rnd5 Jacob Cowing
Jacob Cowing slid further than he should have, and the 157th overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick167 Rnd5 AJ Barner
AJ Barner at slot 167 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick177 Rnd6 Jarrian Jones
Jarrian Jones in Round 6, Pick 2 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
