Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Williams is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a B+.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jenkins.

The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Caleb Williams. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick25 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the 25th pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
Pick50 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
They paid up for Braden Fiske at the Round 2 slot when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick58 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
A straight-up fair deal on Payton Wilson at No. 58, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick63 Rnd2 Patrick Paul
No drama and no debate, Patrick Paul went about where he belonged in the 63rd overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Kris Jenkins
Kris Jenkins in pick 75 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick120 Rnd4 Theo Johnson
They paid sticker price for Theo Johnson in Round 4, Pick 20, and that is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick122 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in slot 122 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick150 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey in Round 5, Pick 14 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick202 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs in pick No. 202 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick214 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. at the 214th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
