Bears 24 DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A passer of the future in Williams, and a B-, for the Bears. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Bears' quarterback, full stop.
The Wilson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with linebacker the one that mattered most.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In No. 1 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick9
Rnd1
Joe Alt
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a building block for the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick75
Rnd3
Payton Wilson
A linebacker of that caliber at slot 75 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick122
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
No drama and no debate, Johnny Wilson went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
