Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureB-
The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D-.

The Bears lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. A D- that will need time and luck to look better.

They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

Powers-Johnson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. However the rest shakes out, Barton at that price is a win they earned.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick 9 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick No. 39 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick70 Rnd3 Graham Barton
Graham Barton at slot 70 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Pick75 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
A reasonable price with a little left over, Brenden Rice in the 75th overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick110 Rnd4 Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith slid further than he should have, and No. 110 is lovely value for the safety. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick122 Rnd4 Ray Davis
Nice patience on Ray Davis, who had no business lasting to the 122nd pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
