Bears 24 DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A passer of the future in Williams, and a B-, for the Bears. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Isaac. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In No. 1 they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Joe Alt
Joe Alt in slot 9 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick75
Rnd3
Adisa Isaac
Steal is underselling it; Adisa Isaac at pick 75 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick122
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
They let Mohamed Kamara come to them and pounced at the 122nd pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
