Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesC FutureA
The Bears found their guy under center in Williams: B.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Bears' quarterback, full stop. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

Cooper at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In pick No. 1 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
Pick20 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Edgerrin Cooper
You do not let a linebacker like Edgerrin Cooper reach Round 3, Pick 11 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick84 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
Patrick Paul at pick 84 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick87 Rnd3 Kiran Amegadjie
Taking Kiran Amegadjie in the 87th pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick122 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at the 122nd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick216 Rnd6 Josh Proctor
Josh Proctor slid further than he should have, and No. 216 is lovely value for the safety. A minor itch, scratched.
