Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesD+ FutureA+
Williams is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: B.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.

That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Bullard. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In pick 2 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In No. 9 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick75 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
The board had Javon Bullard higher than Round 3, Pick 11, and the safety fell to them anyway. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick102 Rnd4 Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni in pick No. 102 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick110 Rnd4 Tyrice Knight
No edge and no loss on Tyrice Knight in the 110th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick122 Rnd4 DJ James
Value with a capital V on DJ James in slot 122, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick146 Rnd5 Keith Randolph Jr.
Keith Randolph Jr. at the Round 5 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
