The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Williams: B+. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
Adding Michael Wilson by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In pick 1 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Pick27
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
In No. 27 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Darius Robinson
No edge and no loss on Darius Robinson in Round 2, Pick 3; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick66
Rnd3
Austin Booker
No drama and no debate, Austin Booker went about where he belonged in slot 66. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick75
Rnd3
Patrick Paul
They went early on Patrick Paul in pick No. 75, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick122
Rnd4
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice at the 122nd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
