Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureC+
The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D-.

The Bears lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.

So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The cost of the Sydnor reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Eboigbe at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
Caleb Williams in pick No. 1 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick9 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In slot 9 they get a premier pass rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick34 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman at No. 34 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick75 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at Round 3, Pick 11 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick76 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
They paid a round early for TreVeyon Henderson in the 76th pick, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick82 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson in the 82nd overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Pick186 Rnd6 Justin Eboigbe
Value with a capital V on Justin Eboigbe in the Round 6 slot, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick232 Rnd7 Khordae Sydnor
Khordae Sydnor in pick 232 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
