A costly weekend of dealing drags the Steelers to a D-.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Steelers shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

Pegues has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Hampton falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In No. 21 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick51 Rnd2 Jack Bech
The board had cheaper options than Jack Bech at slot 51, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick57 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Somehow Omarion Hampton was still sitting there in the 57th pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick83 Rnd3 Jalen Milroe
A reach on Jalen Milroe in pick 83; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick156 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in the 156th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick185 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
No drama and no debate, Jaylen Reed went about where he belonged in pick No. 185. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick229 Rnd7 Jermari Harris
Jermari Harris at Round 7, Pick 13 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
