Draft Grade — Bears
Overall F
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureD-
The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Williams: F.

The Bears lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. The board sounded every alarm, and the F is the fallout.

The Holker pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Landing McConkey that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with edge rusher still staring back at them.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In No. 2 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In slot 9 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick27 Rnd1 Bo Nix
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
A slide stopped in pick 39, with Keon Coleman worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick47 Rnd2 Kamari Lassiter
They barely believed it either: Kamari Lassiter still on the board at pick No. 47. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick67 Rnd3 Ladd McConkey
They will replay Ladd McConkey at the 67th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick75 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice at the 75th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick100 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at Round 3, Pick 37 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick110 Rnd4 Dallin Holker
Dallin Holker in the 110th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick122 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: Matt Goncalves for less than the market said. It fills a real need, too.
Pick143 Rnd5 Braelon Allen
They went early on Braelon Allen in No. 143, and the value did not follow. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick146 Rnd5 Edefuan Ulofoshio
Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 146th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick185 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
You do not let a running back like Frank Gore Jr. reach Round 6, Pick 10 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick188 Rnd6 Christian Jones
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Jones. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick225 Rnd7 Taulia Tagovailoa
Good price on Taulia Tagovailoa in slot 225, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick227 Rnd7 Chad Lindberg
They reached a country mile for Chad Lindberg at pick No. 227, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
