Draft Grade — Bills
Overall C-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureC
The Bills got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Bills would have aced it. Jack Kiser at pick No. 148 is 33 spots clear of where he belonged.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They banked enough surplus on Emmanwori to cover a lot of smaller sins. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Spending an early pick on cornerback with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick Analysis
Pick39 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams in the 39th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick41 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Nick Emmanwori in No. 41, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick56 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
By-the-book stuff, Jayden Higgins at pick 56 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick62 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston in pick No. 62 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick109 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at Round 4, Pick 7 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick132 Rnd4 Dorian Strong
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Dorian Strong at cornerback with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots open.
Pick148 Rnd5 Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser at the Round 5 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick169 Rnd5 DJ Giddens
DJ Giddens in the 169th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick170 Rnd5 James Burnip
A slide stopped in pick 170, with James Burnip worth more than the price. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick173 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
The board had cheaper options than Dont'e Thornton Jr. at pick No. 173, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick177 Rnd6 Vernon Broughton
A reach for Vernon Broughton in the 177th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick206 Rnd6 Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson at Round 6, Pick 30 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
