Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Bills kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

The Bills torched the value chart for Luke Elzinga, taking him 43 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

They will answer for taking cornerback early while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots went begging. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Barron. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Jahdae Barron
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick56 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
They took Alfred Collins at par in pick No. 56, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick62 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick 62 on Maxwell Hairston with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots unsolved.
Pick109 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
Good price on Jared Wilson in Round 4, Pick 7, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick132 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Malachi Moore. The roster fit checks out.
Pick169 Rnd5 Vernon Broughton
A premium they did not need to pay, Vernon Broughton a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick170 Rnd5 Luke Elzinga
A wild overpay on Luke Elzinga in No. 170, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick173 Rnd5 Clay Webb
Clay Webb at the Round 5 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick177 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in Round 6, Pick 1 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick206 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at pick No. 206 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
