The Bills cashed the board's mistake on Mukuba: B. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Andrew Mukuba, the No. 83 name on the board, stolen at slot 170.
A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In slot 30 they get a load in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick56
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in pick 56 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick62
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jayden Higgins. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick109
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Savion Williams at the Round 4 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick116
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke in the 116th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick170
Rnd5
Andrew Mukuba
A safety of that caliber at No. 170 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick173
Rnd5
Jake Majors
Taking Jake Majors in the 173rd overall pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick177
Rnd6
DJ Giddens
A tidy little value on DJ Giddens in pick No. 177, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick206
Rnd6
Luke Elzinga
No drama and no debate, Luke Elzinga went about where he belonged in No. 206. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
