Aolson33 DRAFTING FOR THEBills

Draft Grade — Bills
Overall

ValueB

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Bills, and a B- to prove it. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Bills spent pick 206 on Hayden Conner, a name most had 61 spots down the list. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Emmanwori. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Bills indulged a want in Hairston while a need in linebacker, edge rusher and other spots stayed open.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In slot 30 they get a lockdown presence outside, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick56
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in Round 2, Pick 24 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick62
Rnd2
Maxwell Hairston
A want over a need in the 62nd overall pick: Maxwell Hairston adds a cornerback while linebacker, edge rusher and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick109
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kevin Winston Jr. at the Round 4 slot is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick132
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
They barely believed it either: Joshua Farmer still on the board at pick 132. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick169
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
No edge and no loss on Kyle Williams in pick No. 169; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick170
Rnd5
CJ West
A reach for CJ West in No. 170; a little patience would have been rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick173
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They paid up for Dont'e Thornton Jr. at slot 173 when waiting would have done the job. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick177
Rnd6
DJ Giddens
A tidy little value on DJ Giddens in the Round 6 slot, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick206
Rnd6
Hayden Conner
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Hayden Conner. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
