The phones sank the Steelers this weekend: D.

The Steelers went off the board in a big way for DeMonte Capehart, 49 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The Steelers indulged a want in Van Pran while a need in edge rusher, running back and other spots stayed open.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On value alone, McKinstry makes the weekend a net positive.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
