Draft Grade — Browns

FutureA+
The Browns let Smith fall and pounced. Final grade: D+. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Browns, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Too much went sideways, and the D+ is the honest tally.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Lloyd has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Smith at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Taliese Fuaga at slot 26. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick55
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
Chop Robinson at the 55th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick86
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
They did well to land Roman Wilson in No. 86, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick108
Rnd4
Max Melton
Max Melton at pick No. 108 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick110
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
By-the-book stuff, Leonard Taylor III at the 110th pick squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick122
Rnd4
MarShawn Lloyd
They went early on MarShawn Lloyd in pick 122, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick138
Rnd5
Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith in pick No. 138 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick139
Rnd5
Jordan Travis
A tidy little value on Jordan Travis in pick 139, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick205
Rnd6
JD Bertrand
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing JD Bertrand in slot 205. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick210
Rnd6
Gabe Hall
Fair-plus on Gabe Hall, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
