Draft Grade — Browns
Overall D
ValueB NeedA- TradesF FutureB-
The Browns won the night they stopped Jones from sliding. Grade: D.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Browns did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Every board in the league had Ford lower, and that gap is the story. However the rest shakes out, Jones at that price is a win they earned.

The Browns paired the rookies with proven help, Justin Fields leading the way.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the 1st pick they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick86 Rnd3 McKinnley Jackson
By-the-book stuff, McKinnley Jackson at pick 86 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick154 Rnd5 LaDarius Henderson
LaDarius Henderson at the 154th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick159 Rnd5 Jaylan Ford
They jumped the gun on Jaylan Ford, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick207 Rnd6 Jawhar Jordan
Jawhar Jordan at the Round 6 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick210 Rnd6 Christian Jones
Christian Jones in No. 210 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick231 Rnd7 Daequan Hardy
A quiet steal in pick No. 231: Daequan Hardy for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
