Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Browns and Rivers: B.

Somebody in pick No. 179 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Browns sat still while Jalen Rivers, the No. 161 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They went 7 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Their trades came out a wash either way.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In pick 2 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Jaxson Dart
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaxson Dart. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick67 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
A slide stopped in slot 67, with TreVeyon Henderson worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick97 Rnd3 Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at the 97th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick104 Rnd4 Dylan Fairchild
They paid sticker price for Dylan Fairchild in Round 4, Pick 2, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick179 Rnd6 Jalen Rivers
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jalen Rivers in the 179th overall pick, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick192 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A tidy little value on Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the Round 6 slot, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick205 Rnd6 Tahj Brooks
Tahj Brooks at pick No. 205 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick216 Rnd6 Jason Marshall Jr.
Jason Marshall Jr. at the 216th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick245 Rnd7 Ja'Corey Brooks
They did well to land Ja'Corey Brooks in No. 245, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick255 Rnd7 Cam Horsley
Cam Horsley at the 255th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
