Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB- TradesA FutureB-
The Buccaneers let Dike fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Chimere Dike tumbling to the Buccaneers in the 235th pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

If Higgins pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Buccaneers indulged a want in Winston Jr. while a need in interior defensive lineman, offensive lineman and other spots stayed open.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Jahdae Barron
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a lockdown presence outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick56 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
A conviction pick on Maxwell Hairston at pick 56 that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick84 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
A straight-up fair deal on Andrew Mukuba at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick109 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
A curious use of the 109th pick. Interior defensive lineman, offensive lineman and other spots needed the pick; a safety in Kevin Winston Jr. did not.
Pick121 Rnd4 Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa in pick No. 121 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick157 Rnd5 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at the 157th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick235 Rnd7 Chimere Dike
The board fumbled Chimere Dike all the way to No. 235, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
