The Buccaneers won the night they stopped Bassa from sliding. Grade: B-.

The Buccaneers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jeffrey Bassa fell into the Round 5 slot. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

The Hairston pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
