The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Patriots watched Caleb Ransaw slide 27 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

Every board in the league had Jackson lower, and that gap is the story. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The Caelen Carson pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
