TOMM DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots

Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall

FutureB
The Patriots cashed the board's mistake on West: D+. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Patriots shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
That West pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They will need Blue to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Armand Membou
Armand Membou at pick 25 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick38
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton slipping to the 38th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick58
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker at the 58th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick69
Rnd3
Marcus Mbow
Marcus Mbow at slot 69 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick77
Rnd3
Tre Harris
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tre Harris at the Round 3 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick106
Rnd4
Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor in No. 106 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Pick144
Rnd5
LeQuint Allen
A clean, defensible pick in the 144th pick with a little surplus value in LeQuint Allen. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jaydon Blue
Jaydon Blue at the 171st overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick220
Rnd7
KeAndre Lambert-Smith
KeAndre Lambert-Smith in pick No. 220 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick238
Rnd7
CJ West
They will replay CJ West at slot 238 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
