The 49ers turned the phones into found money: B+. The real work happened on the phones. The 49ers fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
The Jackson Jr. pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Roush. The 49ers clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick40
Rnd2
LT Overton
By-the-book stuff, LT Overton at pick No. 40 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick59
Rnd2
Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. at the 59th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick92
Rnd3
Omar Cooper Jr.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Omar Cooper Jr. at the 92nd overall pick is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick127
Rnd4
Chase Bisontis
Value with a capital V on Chase Bisontis in pick 127, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick133
Rnd4
Logan Jones
Logan Jones at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick146
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor in Round 5, Pick 7 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick172
Rnd5
Oscar Delp
A straight-up fair deal on Oscar Delp at No. 172, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick177
Rnd5
Sam Roush
They robbed the room for Sam Roush here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
