Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Bears found their guy under center in Williams: D.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bears, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on Clark to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
Olumuyiwa Fashanu at pick No. 9 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick43 Rnd2 Ladd McConkey
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ladd McConkey in the 43rd pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick75 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Javon Bullard at the Round 3 slot. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick109 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
No edge and no loss on Leonard Taylor III in the 109th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick142 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden in No. 142 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick153 Rnd5 Dallin Holker
A quiet steal in slot 153: Dallin Holker for less than the market said. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick226 Rnd7 De'Corian Clark
They will replay De'Corian Clark at pick 226 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick235 Rnd7 Matthew Jones
Matthew Jones in pick No. 235 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
