A passer of the future in Williams, and a B, for the Commanders.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop.

For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Rice left real value on the table behind him. That Barton pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

In the 2nd pick they get their quarterback of the future at fair value.
Pick36 Rnd2 Graham Barton
Graham Barton slid further than he should have, and pick 36 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick40 Rnd2 Darius Robinson
By-the-book stuff, Darius Robinson at slot 40 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick67 Rnd3 Cade Stover
They took Cade Stover at par in Round 3, Pick 3, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick78 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in No. 78 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick100 Rnd3 Bucky Irving
Bucky Irving is a better player than the 100th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
