Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
The Packers let Cowing fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Jacob Cowing, slot 125, roughly 25 picks past where he belonged. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

The Packers indulged a want in Stover while a need in edge rusher and running back stayed open. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41 Rnd2 Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens in pick No. 41 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick58 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat at pick 58 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick88 Rnd3 Marist Liufau
Marist Liufau in the 88th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick91 Rnd3 Cade Stover
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher and running back to take Cade Stover, a TE-EDGE that was not the priority.
Pick125 Rnd4 Jacob Cowing
Taking Jacob Cowing in the 125th pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick135 Rnd4 Malik Mustapha
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Malik Mustapha in slot 135 leaves edge rusher and running back for later.
Pick203 Rnd6 Kingsley Eguakun
Kingsley Eguakun in Round 6, Pick 28 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Pick217 Rnd6 Brevyn Spann-Ford
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brevyn Spann-Ford. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick219 Rnd6 Phil Jurkovec
They paid up for Phil Jurkovec at slot 219 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick246 Rnd7 Jeremy James
Fair-plus on Jeremy James, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
