Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesC FutureB-
The Bears left with their quarterback, and a B- to match.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Bo Nix is the Bears' quarterback, full stop. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

They are betting Nix proves the room right and everyone else wrong. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Bo Nix
In No. 9 they get the face of the franchise, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick12 Rnd1 Laiatu Latu
Laiatu Latu in Round 1, Pick 12 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick43 Rnd2 Roman Wilson
No drama and no debate, Roman Wilson went about where he belonged in slot 43. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick75 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
Circle this one: Kingsley Suamataia at pick 75 is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick111 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop at the Round 4 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick123 Rnd4 Josh Newton
Josh Newton in the 123rd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick143 Rnd5 Trevor Keegan
They talked themselves into Trevor Keegan at the 143rd overall pick, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick199 Rnd6 Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley at pick No. 199 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick237 Rnd7 Joshua Cephus
Joshua Cephus in the 237th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
