Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB FutureB-
The Cowboys cashed the board's mistake on Bullard: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cowboys were there to profit. Javon Bullard, the No. 66 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 89. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

If Limmer pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In the 24th overall pick they get juice off the edge, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick56 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat at Round 2, Pick 24 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick89 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard in pick No. 89 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick124 Rnd4 Beaux Limmer
A premium they did not need to pay, Beaux Limmer a notch or two before his time. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick174 Rnd5 Christian Jones
Christian Jones in the Round 5 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick204 Rnd6 Myles Jones
No edge and no loss on Myles Jones in the 204th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick212 Rnd6 Trevor Keegan
A reach for Trevor Keegan in No. 212; a little patience would have been rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick245 Rnd7 Eric Gentry
A clean, defensible pick in slot 245 with a little surplus value in Eric Gentry. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
