Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

FutureB
The Cowboys checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Collin Oliver, 52 picks early at the 239th overall pick. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
However the rest shakes out, Mondon Jr. at that price is a win they earned. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Mike Green
In the Round 1 slot they get a bendy edge with upside. More want than need.
Pick44
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
They read the board right and Omarion Hampton was the payoff at No. 44. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick59
Rnd2
Tre Harris
No drama and no debate, Tre Harris went about where he belonged in slot 59. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick76
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
They jumped the gun on Andrew Mukuba, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick91
Rnd3
Zy Alexander
A straight-up fair deal on Zy Alexander at the 91st pick, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick129
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
They barely believed it either: Smael Mondon Jr. still on the board at the 129th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick149
Rnd5
Logan Brown
A tidy little value on Logan Brown in the 149th pick, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick171
Rnd5
Vernon Broughton
Vernon Broughton at slot 171 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick174
Rnd5
Clay Webb
Clay Webb at the 174th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick204
Rnd6
Luke Lachey
By-the-book stuff, Luke Lachey at pick No. 204 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
A tidy bit of business in Round 6, Pick 35, where Jay Higgins graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick239
Rnd7
Collin Oliver
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Collin Oliver. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick247
Rnd7
Tonka Hemingway
Tonka Hemingway at the Round 7 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
