You can hear the double-takes from here. The Bills took Jacobe Covington at the 9th pick, roughly 342 spots before his name belonged. A F, plain and simple.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Rucker falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

It is not that Covington is a bad player; it is that the Bills had louder needs to answer first. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
