The steal of the weekend belongs to the Commanders and Vinson: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Carson Vinson at the 245th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Luther Burden III
In the 29th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick61
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
A clean, defensible pick in pick 61 with a little surplus value in TreVeyon Henderson. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick128
Rnd4
Kobe King
No edge and no loss on Kobe King in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick205
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
A quiet steal in the 205th overall pick: Jaylen Reed for less than the market said. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick245
Rnd7
Carson Vinson
Steal is underselling it; Carson Vinson at Round 7, Pick 29 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
