Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Williams is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: D-.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bears shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Put together, it is a D-.

Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Robinson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the 1st pick they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick No. 9 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Graham Barton
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Graham Barton. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
They took Cooper Beebe at par in pick 75, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick110 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in the 110th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick122 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
By-the-book stuff, Tommy Eichenberg at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick145 Rnd5 Dallin Holker
No drama and no debate, Dallin Holker went about where he belonged in No. 145. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick146 Rnd5 Braelon Allen
A reach for Braelon Allen in slot 146; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
