Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
D+
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesF
FutureD
The Ravens bled value on every deal, hence the D+. They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Hayden Conner, 33 picks early at Round 7, Pick 18.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Campbell.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In slot 14 they get a potential shutdown corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at No. 50 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick52
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
A quiet steal in pick 52: Jihaad Campbell for less than the market said. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick91
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
A slide stopped in the 91st overall pick, with Andrew Mukuba worth more than the price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick129
Rnd4
Logan Brown
They paid up for Logan Brown at Round 4, Pick 27 when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick161
Rnd5
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
A reasonable price with a little left over, Antwaun Powell-Ryland in pick No. 161. The roster fit checks out.
Pick164
Rnd5
Ryan Fitzgerald
A straight-up fair deal on Ryan Fitzgerald at No. 164, value and slot in agreement. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick183
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
No edge and no loss on Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick 183; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick203
Rnd6
Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick210
Rnd6
Isaac TeSlaa
They reached into another round for Isaac TeSlaa, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick234
Rnd7
Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at pick No. 234 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
