FutureB+
Nobody dealt better than the Cardinals this weekend: B+. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Cardinals came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The cost of the Taylor III reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
The Abrams-Draine pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, edge rusher and other spots still on the board.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Jordan Morgan
In slot 27 they get an anchor for the offensive line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Legette at the 35th pick, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick41
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
They paid up for Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick No. 41 when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick66
Rnd3
Ruke Orhorhoro
They paid sticker price for Ruke Orhorhoro in pick 66, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick71
Rnd3
Josh Newton
Value with a capital V on Josh Newton in No. 71, a genuine coup. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick90
Rnd3
Leonard Taylor III
They reached a country mile for Leonard Taylor III at the 90th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick104
Rnd4
Malik Washington
The board had cheaper options than Malik Washington at Round 4, Pick 4, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick105
Rnd4
Kris Abrams-Draine
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Kris Abrams-Draine adds a cornerback and leaves quarterback, edge rusher and other spots untouched.
Pick133
Rnd4
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
They jumped the gun on Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
