Draft Grade — Bears

FutureA+
Larceny in Round 4, Pick 30 lands the Bears a D+, Carter and all. The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
The Gordon II pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Getting Carter where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In the 24th pick they get a security blanket over the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
Pick30
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In pick No. 30 they get a two-high chess piece, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick39
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker is a better player than the 39th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Pick44
Rnd2
Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen in the Round 2 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick72
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
A top-tier running back at a bargain, TreVeyon Henderson in pick 72, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick109
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Circle this one: Savion Williams at slot 109 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick132
Rnd4
Barrett Carter
They barely believed it either: Barrett Carter still on the board at No. 132. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick148
Rnd5
RJ Harvey
RJ Harvey at the 148th overall pick is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick149
Rnd5
Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in the Round 5 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick233
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
They paid sticker price for Isaac TeSlaa in slot 233, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick240
Rnd7
Cody Lindenberg
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Cody Lindenberg well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
