FutureA+
The Commanders finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B-. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Cowing. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.
Powers-Johnson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In pick 7 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
Pick39
Rnd2
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick No. 39 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick42
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
No drama and no debate, Jordan Morgan went about where he belonged in the 42nd overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick66
Rnd3
Jackson Powers-Johnson
The board had cheaper options than Jackson Powers-Johnson at slot 66, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick100
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing TreVeyon Henderson in Round 3, Pick 37. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick102
Rnd4
Adisa Isaac
Fair-plus on Adisa Isaac, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick139
Rnd5
Khyree Jackson
A slide stopped in the 139th pick, with Khyree Jackson worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick159
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
By-the-book stuff, Malachi Moore at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick180
Rnd6
Ajani Cornelius
A straight-up fair deal on Ajani Cornelius at the 180th pick, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick223
Rnd7
Jacob Cowing
Jacob Cowing at slot 223 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
