DN2 DRAFTING FOR THESteelers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers

TradesB-
FutureB-
Larceny in the 229th pick lands the Steelers a B, Sanders and all. You could see the war room lean forward. Raheim Sanders at pick No. 229 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. No fireworks, but a solid B.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
In pick 21 they get a three-down second-level presence. A real need, handled.
Pick83
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
They read the board right and Quinshon Judkins was the payoff at the 83rd overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick123
Rnd4
Ashton Gillotte
They will replay Ashton Gillotte at pick No. 123 for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick156
Rnd5
Jaylin Lane
You do not let a wide receiver like Jaylin Lane reach the 156th pick and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick185
Rnd6
Quincy Riley
Taking Quincy Riley in No. 185 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick229
Rnd7
Raheim Sanders
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Raheim Sanders in slot 229, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
