The Bears checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. The Bears' one glaring miss is edge rusher, a need they left exactly as they found it. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
If Hampton pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Burden III falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton at No. 10 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick33
Rnd2
Luther Burden III
A quiet steal in the 33rd overall pick: Luther Burden III for less than the market said. It fills a real need, too.
Pick41
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
A straight-up fair deal on Tyleik Williams at the 41st pick, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
