Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall
B-
ValueC
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Panthers. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Panthers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to cornerback, which was the need that mattered most. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The Walker reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
In the Round 1 slot they get the heartbeat of the defense, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick57
Rnd2
Josaiah Stewart
They did well to land Josaiah Stewart in the 57th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick74
Rnd3
Jack Bech
A clean, defensible pick in the 74th pick with a little surplus value in Jack Bech. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
