Draft Grade — Browns
Overall C+
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesF FutureA+
The Browns found their guy under center in Dart: C+.

Start where it matters. The Browns took Jaxson Dart to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. If Dart pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hampton.

Hit on Jaxson Dart and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Jaxson Dart
In pick No. 14 they get the arm they will build around, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick40 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
The board had Derrick Harmon higher than slot 40, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick45 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton slid further than he should have, and the 45th overall pick is lovely value for the running back. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick94 Rnd3 Charles Grant
Charles Grant in pick 94 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
Pick104 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 2, where Kevin Winston Jr. graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick179 Rnd6 Jake Briningstool
Jake Briningstool slipping to the 179th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
