Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

FutureA-
The Cowboys turned the phones into found money: A-. There is reaching, and then there is Johntay Cook II at pick No. 177. The Cowboys jumped the board by 60 and dared it to prove them wrong.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Thieneman.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Anthony Hill Jr. and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Anthony Hill Jr.
In No. 26 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick50
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at the 50th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick58
Rnd2
Darrell Jackson Jr.
The board had cheaper options than Darrell Jackson Jr. at pick No. 58, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick82
Rnd3
Harold Perkins Jr.
Harold Perkins Jr. at Round 3, Pick 18 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick109
Rnd4
DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart in pick 109 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick148
Rnd5
Jonah Coleman
Jonah Coleman at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick177
Rnd6
Johntay Cook II
Johntay Cook II at the 177th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick214
Rnd6
Tony Grimes
A reach for Tony Grimes in slot 214; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
