Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Steelers and Corley: B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Malachi Corley got past him. The Steelers do not have to explain a thing at Round 3, Pick 35. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Steelers indulged a want in Barton while a need in quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots stayed open.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In pick 22 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. More want than need.
Pick51 Rnd2 Graham Barton
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots to take Graham Barton, an offensive lineman that was not the priority.
Pick84 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Mike Sainristil in slot 84. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick98 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
Circle this one: Malachi Corley at No. 98 is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick119 Rnd4 Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in pick No. 119 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick120 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
They barely believed it either: Khyree Jackson still on the board at the 120th pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick178 Rnd6 Sione Vaki
Steal is underselling it; Sione Vaki at Round 6, Pick 3 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick195 Rnd6 Marist Liufau
Marist Liufau at the 195th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
