The Steelers bet big and early on Jaylan Ford, 41 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

Kinchens at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

With quarterback, edge rusher and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on offensive lineman is the choice that costs them.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
