Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall A-
ValueA NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Dolphins and Tengesdahl: A-.

The Dolphins did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Evan Tengesdahl fell into pick 157. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. On the needs board they went 5 of 5, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In the end it comes back to Drew Mestemaker, and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick Analysis
Pick43 Rnd2 Drew Mestemaker
The board fumbled Drew Mestemaker all the way to pick No. 43, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick51 Rnd2 Ahmad Hardy
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Ahmad Hardy in slot 51, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick53 Rnd2 Justin Scott
Somehow Justin Scott was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 21, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick75 Rnd3 Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
Kenyatta Jackson Jr. slipping to pick 75 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick85 Rnd3 Luke Montgomery
A tidy little value on Luke Montgomery in No. 85, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
Pick87 Rnd3 Chris Cole
They barely believed it either: Chris Cole still on the board at the 87th overall pick. Need-wise, a curious use of the pick.
Pick90 Rnd3 Duce Robinson
They robbed the room for Duce Robinson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick111 Rnd4 Brandon Baker
Brandon Baker at the 111th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick118 Rnd4 Iapani Laloulu
Iapani Laloulu at the 118th pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick119 Rnd4 Jayden Jackson
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jayden Jackson. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick149 Rnd5 Brody Foley
Brody Foley is a better player than Round 5, Pick 11 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick155 Rnd5 Drayk Bowen
Value with a capital V on Drayk Bowen in pick No. 155, a genuine coup. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
Pick157 Rnd5 Evan Tengesdahl
You do not let an offensive lineman like Evan Tengesdahl reach slot 157 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick227 Rnd7 Sheridan Wilson
A quiet steal in pick 227: Sheridan Wilson for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
