Draft Grade — Steelers

FutureB-
The Steelers worked the phones like thieves and earned a B. Nobody had Beau Brade this high, and it is not close. The Steelers reached 36 spots to get him at No. 98. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. However the rest shakes out, McMillan at that price is a win they earned.
Spending an early pick on offensive lineman with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Graham Barton
In the 26th pick they get a cornerstone up front at fair value.
Pick53
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Jordan Morgan at offensive lineman with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots open.
Pick84
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
A premium they did not need to pay, Brenden Rice a notch or two before his time. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick96
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson in pick 96 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick98
Rnd3
Beau Brade
A wild overpay on Beau Brade in the Round 3 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick119
Rnd4
Jalen McMillan
Jalen McMillan in the 119th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick195
Rnd6
Johnny Dixon
A tidy little value on Johnny Dixon in No. 195, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
